Day 3

The ride got really interesting today. Today marked the beginning of a brutal 4 day stretch. We packed the van at 5:15am in the morning, rode one half hour to breakfast, then started riding at 7am going 92 mile with 6060 feet of elevation gain. The next three days are similar, 85, 128, then 96 miles. If I survive this I will probably lose 10 pounds which is good. Because the next day we ride into Colorado and start climbing the 12,000 ft passes.
The place we are staying tonight is scarey, kind of like a ghost town except people live here. They warned us at the motel not to drink the water. I took a very quick shower, water smelled really bad. I didn' even wash above my neck, not the kind of shower you want after sweating for 9 hours on the road. I won't even brush my teeth here.
Another night without cell phone service or email access. Attached is a picture of where we ate dinner. Note the sign indicating the "the worlds largest chicken fried steak.
