The incredible colors you see are partly caused by the color of the algae that live in the 160+ degree waters, different colors represent different algae that live at different temperatures. These pools pop up every where. When leaving Biscuit Basin, a small part of the parking lot was blocked off where a crack in the surface of the parking lot had steam boiling up from it.
