Madison Earthquake
This morning we rode through an area that was the epicenter of magnitude 7.5 earthquake back in 1959. On a moonlit night on August 17th, 1959, a major fault line slipped and 80 million tons of earth fell from this hillside down into a valley where over 150 people were camping, killing 29 of them. Here is a picture of the hillside that gave way.
