Celebration
The hardest days of the tour are now behind us. The next three days will be a relatively gentle 150 mile ride along the Icefields Parkway, kind of like a 3 day celebration and parade laps of this grand tour. National Geographic describes the Icefields Parkway as a "a highway hung from the stars." The road has mountains rising one mile high on both sides, has over 2000 glaciers and numerous glacier fed turquiose lakes and rivers all along the way. Unfortuneatly, cell connectios will almost certainly dissappear, at least they did last year, so I will have to sned photos when I get home. Today is a 50 mile ride to the Sascatchwen Crossing, then 60 mile ride to Sunwapa Falls, then 35 mile ride to Jasper and tour will be complete. Funny thing, now that I am in the Canadian Rockies again which are so familiar, it almost feels like two different tours. The other part of the tour feels like a distant memory, almost like it didn't happen at all.
