Mt. Moran

Mt. Moran I s the tall peak with the glacier on it in this photo. I may not have this story completely accurate but its close. Moran was a painter in the early 1900's. Early visitors to the Tetons were trying to convince the Federal Govt. To set aside this area as a national park to preserve its beauty forever. Up until then there were no national parks. Nobody believed the tales of how beautiful it was. So Moran painted the Tetons. Still people were skeptical, but his paintings caused such a stir that professional photographers made the trek out west (no interstate highways back then) and photographed the Tetons. The proof of existance of the Tetons from the photos led Yellowstone and the Tetons becoming the America's first national parks.
